Modalities

SWEDISH MASSAGE
One of the most well-known massage techniques, Swedish massage is designed to energize the body by stimulating circulation. Primarily gliding, kneading, and percussive strokes are used to manipulate the more superficial, soft tissues of the body. Oil is used to reduce friction on the skin. The many benefits of Swedish massage include generalized relaxation, dissolution of scar tissue adhesions, and improved circulation, which may speed healing and reduce swelling from injury.

DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE/FASCIAL MOBILIZATION
Deep-tissue Massage and Fascial Mobilization affect the deeper muscle and connective tissue layers. Fascia is a connective-tissue sheath that envelopes every structure in the body (like the membranes in a peeled orange). These techniques help address restrictions that cause asymmetries, postural mal-alignment, abnormal tensions, pain and dysfunction. The goal is to produce a well-balanced, symmetrical, and mobile body. It helps with chronic muscular pain, injury rehabilitation, and inflammation-related pain. Moderated by your own tolerance for pressure, clients may experience a deeper level of intensity as structural changes are introduced within the body.

THAI MASSAGE/THAI YOGA MASSAGE (please see my other website: www.BodhiWise.abmp.com)
Thai massage has been taught and practiced in Thailand for approximately 2,500 years. Thai massage also involves peripheral stimulating, meaning it acts as an external stimulant to produce specific internal effects. Thai massage is practiced on a firm mat on the floor instead of on a table, instrumental in the effective use of the practitioner’s body weight. Except for the feet, the client remains fully clothed, so draping is not necessary. No oil is used.

PRENATAL/PREGNANCY MASSAGE
Many methods of massage and somatic therapies are both effective and safe prenatally and in the postpartum period of pregnancy. Prenatally, specific techniques can reduce pregnancy discomforts and concerns and enhance the physiological and emotional well-being of both mother and fetus. In the postpartum period, specialized techniques rebalance structure, physiology, and emotions of the new mother and may help her to bond with and care for her infant. I require a referral from your OBGYN or Midwife prior to beginning therapy.

ENERGY FLOW BALANCING
This gentle treatment assists clients in balancing their energy flow. Therapists hold a space for clients to make whatever shifts or changes toward balance they deem necessary. Emphasis is given to the chakras (energy centers within the body), and the joints, leaving clients feeling at peace and at home with themselves, with less pain, increased mobility, and greater range of motion.

AROMATHERAPY
The use of essential oils (extracted from herbs, flowers, resin, woods, and roots) in body and skin care treatments is known as aromatherapy. Used as a healing technique for thousands of years by the Egyptians, Greeks, and Romans, essential oils aid in relaxation, improve circulation, and help the healing of wounds. Specific essential oils are blended by the aromatherapist and added to a carrier oil, such as almond oil, to be used during the massage. Each oil has its own unique characteristics and benefits.
